Week 1: River of stones round up (& kittens)

Fiona writes: Meet Roshi & Tsuki kitten. They came to live with us in late August, and this is my favourite cute-as-a-button photo of them.

As I type, Roshi kitten is sleeping on my lap. He's almost cat-sized now. He still races round like a mad thing, but as time passes he's behaving more & more like our old man cat, Fatty.

Time passes. If we don't play with our kittens when they're small, they'll be all grown up before we know it.

If we don't pay attention to the world around us, it will pass in a flash. We'll swallow without tasting. We'll look without seeing. We'll live without being ALIVE.

The River has been flowing for 6 days now. You've been posting your small stones here on the blog, and I also hope you have been writing them in your notebooks, putting them on your blogs, sharing them on Twitter...

We've enjoyed reading them very much. We hope you've enjoyed reading each other's (and letting each other know). We hope you've enjoyed reading our marvellous guest posts so far: Eric Maisel, Orna Ross, Daisy Hickman, David Brazier and Goddess Leonie (& Kaspa's post about being locked into a poetry bookshop). We've much more to come - Lisa Baldwin, Dave Bonta, Joslyn Hamilton, Sarah Salway, Michael Nobbs and many more...

But mostly we hope that you've experienced a teensy taste of what's possible when we open our eyes, mouth, fingers, nose and ears, and let the world in. The glorious, complex, awful, transcendent world.

It's not too late to join us - write a small stone a day for the rest of January, or for 31 days. Everything you need to know is here.

And if you'd like to immerse yourself even further in the delicious world, we have two ecourses starting on Monday which you can just squeeze onto if you're quick.

For £6/$10, my Year of Questions ecourse includes my 172 page book of the same name, and the opportunity to 'live the questions' in good company.

Kaspa's Writing Towards Healing is a month of learning radical kindness through our themes of listening, acceptance and reconnection. If you've got any questions, drop me or Kaspa a line.

Whether you take up any of our other offerings or not (including my free ebook about Lorrie and our lovely free community), we're very glad to have you here. Keep noticing! Keep writing!

Thanks for the mindfulness you've passed on here. I passed it on to my husband last night. And that is how the river flows on!

So true! I know there are days I need to slow down and pay attention to what is around me.

I'm so sorry I missed this! Perhaps next year. Or February...

Just start today, Joan! We still have some of January left, and as you say there's always Feb...
