Kaspa writes: A while back I was introduced to the idea of videopoems through Dave Bonta’s Moving Poems blog. On the ‘about’ page there, Dave quotes Tom Konyves, “[video poetry is] a genre of poetry displayed on a screen, distinguished by its time-based, poetic juxtaposition of text with images and sound.”
I’ve had the urge to put some words and images together for a while now, and today finally had enough time to play around with some ideas. It seemed only fitting that I should use one of Dave’s own poems in my first experiment. This is Ode to Scythes, from Dave’s collection Ode to Tools.
It took me hours to put this together, including finding all the right pieces, and then finding the software to make them all work together (and losing the whole video-project at one point!) I think the balance between the voice and the music is a little off in some places, but over all I’m pleased with the finished article. Thanks to all the original artists for sharing their work in such a way that I could put this together.
